Yamada Shokai HD and Terra Labs form a research and capital alliance aimed at 3D data operations using aerial surveying technology - Reinforces R&D of wide-area disaster response operation systems

2024.12.13 Venture Collaboration

Yamada Shokai Holding Co.(Headquarters: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture; Representative: Toyohisa Yamada) has subscribed for J-KISS type stock acquisition rights as of January 20, 2023.Terra Labs, Inc.(Headquarters: Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture; President: Takahide Matsuura; hereinafter referred to as "Terra Labs"), and will contribute to improving the resilience of Japan, a country known for its natural disasters, by supporting Terra Labs' research and development of a wide-area disaster response operation system.

Unlike general alliances such as business and capital alliances that generate business synergies, this research and capital alliance is intended to create synergies with Yamada Shokai Holding's technological capabilities and know-how to accelerate the venture's R&D to the social implementation of the technology.

Japan, a nation of natural disasters, needs to be resilient to various disasters including earthquakes. the Nankai Trough earthquake, which is said to have a probability of more than 80% within 30 years, is expected to cause a large-scale disaster not only in the Tokai region but also from the Kanto region to the Kyushu region. The Nankai Trough earthquake is expected to cause a large-scale disaster not only in the Tokai region but also in the Kanto to Kyushu regions.
In preparation for such disasters, Terra Labs is promoting research and development of a "disaster countermeasure information system" that can collect wide-area, high-precision, high-speed three-dimensional data using long-range unmanned aerial vehicles and link it to information from multiple organizations, including governments, administrative agencies, infrastructure providers, and others.

Yamada Shokai Holding is also a 100-year-old company in Aichi Prefecture that aims to solve the problems of our daily life infrastructure by combining the engineering capabilities it has developed over its more than 100-year history with technologies that enable the resilience of the Earth. We have been among the first to rush to the scene of earthquakes, floods, and other disasters, and have been involved in restoration assistance to restore the infrastructure that is the foundation of our lives.

This research and capital alliance will utilize Yamada Shokai Holding's life infrastructure technology and know-how cultivated in the field to research, develop, and disseminate Terra Labo's wide-area disaster response operation system, including a system that enables more rapid recovery activities at disaster sites and more efficient advance planning of personnel and materials procurement, etc. We will work together to develop and disseminate a wide-area disaster response operation system.
